Robert K9/2/20224 4 4Looks great, silent and effective, but not perfect4/5 stars after owning the JQueen 6-Watch Winder for one week. It arrived promptly and fairly well packaged, but I expected to see more padding. Fortunately it arrived in perfect condition.
First impression: the winder looks super, with a deep gloss finish, precise joinery and well-fitted interior padding. It makes a great display.
The controls are simple and switches seem robust. There is plenty of room in the front of the unit to store watches, spare straps and cleaning cloths. All good.
In use, however, the JQueen winder has a problem. The padded "holders" which support your watch (and slot into the winders) are quite small. My watches are mainly on metal bracelets, not buckled straps. I cannot get them to fit snugly. They flop about on the winder as it rotates, jarring both the watch and the winder. The solution is reasonably simple - fatten the watch holders slightly. I have used strips of neoprene from a mouse-mat, but I think I will swap them for strips of velour to improve the look. It is a tiny bit fiddly, but not too bad.
The good news is that the winder works - my automatic watches are running perfectly, As advertised, the JQueen winder is whisper quiet, and it is an eye-catching, interesting display.

I installed the motor and it worked just as well as the day I bought it. NOTE: The old motor has black powder coming out of it that will stain the inside and possibly anything else. It was a pain to take it off my hands. Original review: I love this watch winder. It looked great and worked perfectly at first. I noticed about 6 months ago it was louder than when I first got it. It didn't bother me too much, as I don't get too close to it very often to notice the noise. I bought this at the end of February 2018 and it broke at the end of February 2021. They do sell replacement motors for $19 each. Ended up buying the motors, hoping these will last longer. It's done very well (though it's covered in sticky plastic, leaving residue. Remove it with an alcohol-soaked cotton pad, then immediately with a damp rag) The control knobs have good weight, and there is a very good amount of weight between settings Positive click. If you close the lid, the motor is really quiet enough to sleep in the same room. The light cream interior is perfect for showing off your watch. I would say " pillow"""""""" on the small side, the one in the clockwork is slightly larger, but if you don't have a small wrist like me, especially if you have some heavier watches wound around you Some tumbling may be encountered. You can insert something else inside the strap to tighten it up. If you want to turn it on and leave it indefinitely, I highly recommend setting #4, which goes on-chain for 3 hours and off for 9 hours. Your mainspring needs to rest for a while, and this setup allows my 3 better quality automatics to wind up nicely. I have a Seiko automatic and seem to need more. You can spend thousands of dollars on a winder, and hundreds of dollars seem to be the norm, so I didn't expect to like this as much as I did, but as of now, I'm really having a hard time figuring out why I'd spend more.
